As the download bar crept forward, the air in his room felt heavier. When the .rar file finally landed on his desktop, he right-clicked and hit "Extract Here." A single executable file appeared: Recorder.exe .
Leo launched it. No installation wizard appeared. No "Terms and Conditions." Just a small, translucent red button in the corner of his screen. He opened his game and pressed it. The recorder didn't lag his system; in fact, the game ran smoother than ever. "Goldmine," Leo whispered, grinning.
It wasn't his gaming feat. It was a high-definition recording of Leo sitting in his dark room, viewed from an angle that shouldn't be possible—from inside the monitor itself. In the video, a shadow was standing directly behind his chair. Leo spun around. His room was empty.
He recorded for three hours, pulled off the run of a lifetime, and hit 'Stop.' But when he went to find the video file, there was no .mp4 or .mkv . Instead, the Recorder.exe had vanished, replaced by a text file named READ_ME_CLOSELY.txt . Heart racing, Leo opened it.
The file size was suspiciously small, and the uploader’s username was just a string of random numbers, but Leo was desperate. He clicked.
