In the Hunter x Hunter 2011 series, Episodes 7 and 8 center on the transition from the Second Phase of the Hunter Exam to the start of the Third Phase, largely taking place on an airship.
The airship arrives at , a massive structure in the middle of nowhere that serves as the site for the Third Phase. The candidates must reach the bottom of the tower within 72 hours.
Following the second phase, the remaining examinees board a giant airship bound for the next location. While Kurapika and Leorio rest, Gon and Killua explore the ship. They eventually encounter , the head of the Hunter Association, who challenges them to a simple game: if they can take a ball from him before the ship lands, they will immediately become Hunters.
To their chagrin, the fifth member to join them is Tonpa , the "Rookie Crusher," who intends to sabotage their progress.
