Switch Transcoding May 2026

The Nintendo Switch does not have a built-in "transcoding" feature for users. If you are developing a media app for it or trying to play unsupported files, you must transcode them externally first.

Change the codec (e.g., to MP4/H.264), scale (1080p, 720p), or crop/trim the footage. Audio: Select a new audio codec or adjust the bitrate.
